Palmerston Regional Hospital is the Northern Territory’s first new public hospital in almost 40 years. The 116-bed hospital will deliver primary and community health care services to Territorians for many years to come and will be the most technologically advanced hospital building in the NT.
Albert Smith Signs was contracted to manufacture and install the statutory signs and wayfinding signage to the brand design, presentation and location requirements.
Healthcare facilities are inherently complex environments and this project required over 2000 individual signs. Varying messages colour coded for specific building locations was the challenging aspect of this project and required a project management office to be established at our Brisbane facility and at the Palmerston hospital.
To add to the complexity, cyclone Marcus hit Darwin and caused installation to be halted due to flooding and power cuts.
The 3m totem design wayfinding signage was aluminium composite material (ACM) wrapped around a supporting frame and identified with vinyl cut letters.
The flag style wall mounted building signage, was folded aluminium overlaid with vinyl and a clear coating applied.
The flat building letters throughout the project were 15mm profile cut acrylic.
