State-of-the-art at Wynnum

Brisbane City Council and Albert Smith Signs partnership

The new state-of-the-art library at Wynnum features a wide range of innovative services including digital learning areas and an interactive “Maker Space” for young adults and children to cater for learning through making. The library also includes leading edge audio-visual equipment for hands on workshops. The funding model for the library saw the city’s future fund, the City of Brisbane Investment Corporation, own the 3000 square metre retail space below the library and leased on a long term contract by Woolworths.

Albert Smith Signs partnered with both the Brisbane City Council and Woolworths to manufacture and install the state of the art business signage branding elements for this vibrant community hub in Florence St. Albert Smith Signs supplied all the corporate signage for both the Brisbane City Council and Woolworths – building signs on all elevations, illuminated signs, directional signs and pylon signs.

The 8m identifying pylon signs are positioned at the car park entrances’ to promote site identification and maximise brand visibility and are double sided so they are visible from all directions. The 8m steel frame is clad with ACM and the graphics are incised onto opal acrylic with ASTech LED illumination.

The Woolworths building signs are anthracite grey ACM with 3D Permasign individual letters, with aluminium returns and polycarbonate faces. The stunning Woolworths 3D logo is Albert Smith’s Permasign with a digital print overlay, illuminated with ASTech LED’s.

The eye catching graphics that identify the library on the building signs and pylon signs are 3D individual Permasign letters with aluminium returns and opal polycarbonate faces, illuminated with ASTech LED’s. On the front and side elevations they were attached to the existing building framework. The Brisbane City Council logo is on a fabricated aluminium case, overlaid with negative weeded vinyl graphics to deliver the Brisbane City Council branding element.
