It began with the man – the legend. In 1930, in a humble service station in Corbin, Kentucky, 40-year old Harland Sanders began feeding hungry travellers. There are now over 20,000 KFC outlets in more than 125 countries and territories around the world. KFC landed in Australia in 1968 with the first restaurant in Guildford, Sydney NSW.

Our recent KFC project was in Bundaberg and as the site is located in the same cyclone category as Cairns, our building signs and KFC bucket needed to be tough!
The project logistics began with our Signspec design team providing construction drawings and art work for KFC approval.
The most challenging design and manufacturing element of the project was the 3.6M X 3.6M 360 degree conical tapered pylon sign, standing 15M high with the structure engineered to withstand the cyclone category its located in. The bucket was manufactured from polycarbonate then laminated with 3M translucent vinyl print graphics with precise positioning of The Colonel’s faces for maximum viewing on approach. The massive bucket void was illuminated full perimeter with our ASTech LED modules.
The 3D illuminated building letters were constructed using our Albert Smith Signs Permasign system – manufactured using computer precision fabrication to provide perfect 3D reproduction, rendering even the most intricate designs and complex logos flawlessly. With Permasign, you never have to sacrifice quality for affordability!
The translucent building letter faces are super strength polycarbonate which is the ideal choice for outdoor application and variable weather conditions. The building letter returns were manufactured using a proprietary conformable aluminium extrusion. Illumination was with our warranted ASTech LED modules, designed to withstand rain ingress in storm conditions.
