The Comiskey Group is a family-owned Queensland property development company with strategic operations in hotels and shopping centres. The group is consistently at the forefront of industry innovation and they have developed landmark projects in south-east Queensland.
Like The Comiskey Group, Albert Smith Signs remains a family-owned and operated Queensland manufacturing company since 1873.
Our relationship with the Comiskey Group began in 2008 when we were commissioned to manufacture and install the external building signs at their Beachmere Tavern. Later that year we were asked to supply and install the unique interior building signage in the gaming area. We incorporated LED signage with 3D letters surrounded by a perimeter of neon.
Their current venture with the development and opening of the Sandstone Point Hotel has set new standards in Queensland leisure and entertainment. The striking architecture with an amazing vista of Pumicestone Passage makes the venue a welcoming place where people want to be.
Albert Smith Signs were again commissioned by the Comiskey Group, working within their branding specifications, to manufacture and install their building signage at their Sandstone Point Hotel.
The main entry wall illuminated sign graphics are 3mm laser cut black steel, to give the desired unfinished industrial look, coated with a clear lacquer for protection and attached to the timber cladding. Halo effect illumination was achieved with ASTech 1.2W LED’s placed in an incised channel in the graphic backing so that they are hidden from view.
The animated marquee neon sign, reminiscent of a Las Vegas casino, has an internal steel sub frame overlayed with black and red aluminium composite panels (ACM). The individual ACM and vinyl casino letters are overlayed with LED neon flex which delivers an unbroken line of light at close range and perfect from a distance. The LED bulbs were wired in sequential relays to achieve the specified “chasing” effect
The ASTech internally illuminated directional signs are enclosed in a 3mm black steel light box with 20mm opal acrylic letters that stand proud of the timber cladding and are overlayed with opaque black vinyl
Over the years, Albert Smith Signs have provided cutting-edge signage and identity solutions for some of the biggest brand names in hospitality and we are proud to have an enduring relationship with another family owned and managed Queensland company- the Comiskey Group.
More to come with an innovative pylon sign that will become an icon landmark at Sandstone Point
